12 Days Northen Laos

Luangprabang – Nong khiaw – Muong koua – Phongsaly – Oudomxay – Luangnamtha – Huay xai ( Bokeo)

Day 01: Luangprabang – Arrival (-/-/D)
Upon arrival at the airport or at the Bus station in Luangprabang, you meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Take the leisure or sip cool Beer Lao in the evening at a local restaurant.

Additional option: in the evening walk and shop at the vibrant night market to see and buy souvenirs of Lao products and Lao handcrafts.

Day 02: full-day tour around Luangprabang. ( – /L/D)
After breakfast, we started to explore this magic world heritage city, this includes visit the local morning fresh market in the town and then we continued to visit the attractive sites in the town, including the royal museum which the former time was the Lao king palace, visit magnificent temples: Wat Sene, Wat Mai, Wat Visoun, Wat Xiengthong the charming and sacred temple. Have lunch at a local restaurant. We continue our tour to visit Ban Phanom, famous for Lao textile weaving. Today our trip will finish by climbing up to the top of Phousi Mount, which gives you a nice chance to see the spectacular view of Luangprabang City and the Mekong River. Overnight at a hotel in Luangprabang.

Day 03 : Luangprabang- Pak Ou cave – Nong Khiaw – Mouang Ngoi Kao.( – /L/D)
After breakfast, transfer to the Boat pier, then we take a boat trip on the Mekong River, stopover at Ban Xanghai, which is famous for producing rice whisky, then we continue the boat trip and reach the mysterious Pak Ou cave on the cliff side of the bank of Mekong river, we explore this sacred cave which thousands of Buddha statues left since the sixteenth century. Have a picnic lunch at noon, then we continue our boat trip on the Nam Ou River to Muang Ngoi Kao. On the way we will stop to visit hill tribe villages along Nam Ou, via Nong Khiaw, the wonderful landscape of Nam Ou can be seen, we reach Muang Ngoi Kao late afternoon. Mouang Ngoi is a peaceful place for relaxing time, and also good for trekking. Overnight at a local guesthouse in Muang Ngoi Kao.

Day 04 : Mouang Ngoi Kao – Muang Khoua – Hatsa – Phongsaly.( B/L/D)
After breakfast, we take a boat trip to Phongsaly. On the way, we will stop at Mouang Khoua, a small town situated on the bank of Nam Ou river. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Mouang Khoua. On our boat trip, we enjoy seeing the scenery of Nam Ou, we stop at the hill tribe villages of Khmu, Laoseng, and Phounoy. Our boat trip will finish at Hatsa Pier, then we drive up to Phongsaly, which is situated at the top of Northern Laos. Overnight at a hotel in Phongsaly.

Additional option: Phongsaly is good for trekking: 01 – to 03 days of trekking is your option to explore the hill tribe villages of Akha, Laoseng, and Phounoy, these mentioned villages are accessible by foot only.

Day 05: Phongsaly – hill tribe villages – Bounneua(B/L/D)
After breakfast, we explore Phongsaly town by visiting a fresh market and an old town. After that, we drive to the northern top of Laos. On the way, the road is bumping. Today we have a nice day to explore the hill tribe villages of Tai Leu, Akha( Iko), Hor, Tai Yang, and Phounoy, and also let you explore the wilderness of the area, then we drive back to Bounneua. Overnight at local guesthouse in Bounneua.

Day 06: Bounneua – Bountai – hill tribe villages – Paknamnoy – Oudomxay(B/L/D)
Today we drive to the southern of Phongsaly on a bumping road. On the way, we stop to visit a former French Camp in Bountai, then we drop to visit the hill tribe villages of Ikho Erpa, Poulee, Khmu, and Pala… and then we reach Paknamnoy at T- junction on the road from northern provinces Laos linked to Dien Bien Phou Vietnam. Then we drive ahead to Oudomxay. Overnight at a hotel in Oudomxay.

Day 07: Oudomxay – Luangnamtha – Mouangsing(B/L/D)
Today we drive into Luangnamtha, the land of multi-ethnic groups. Visit Luangnamtha and its surroundings. Then we continue our trip to Mouangsing. On the way we drive through Nam Ha NPA, the National Protected Area. We will reach Mouangsing late evening. Overnight at local guesthouse in Mouangsing.

Day 08: Mouangsing – hill tribe villages trek. (B/L/D)
Today it lets us out of the road, after breakfast, we start trekking from Mouangsing, we head into the rice field then pass the forest into hill tribe villages located out of the road. This trek lets you explore the villages of Akha, Hmong, and Yao. We back to Mouangsing late evening. Overnight in Muangsing.

Day 09: Mouangsing – Xiengkok – Houeixay(B/L/D)
After breakfast, we early drive to Xiengkok. On the way, we have a nice time to visit hill tribe villages of Leu, Akha. We reach Xiengkok and visit some attractions and interesting surroundings. After lunch, we take the boat trip downstream on the Mekong River to Houeixay. On our boat trip, we have a good time to see the wonderful landscape of the Mekong. Then we reach Houeixay in the late afternoon. Overnight at a hotel in Houeixay.
Optional: the tour will end if you choose to across the Mekong to Xieng Rai (Thailand), we will overnight in Houeixay.

Day 10 : Houeixai – Pak Bang(B/L/-)
Today we continue our boat trip downstream on the Mekong to Pak Bang. On the way, we stop to explore villages of minorities living on the Mekong banks. Experience the real living style of villagers. We reach Pak Bang in the late afternoon, have dinner, and overnight in Pak Bang.

Day 11: Pak Bang – Mouang Houn – Mouang Bang – Luangprabang. (B/L/-)
After breakfast, our trip continues by land to Luangprabang. We drive through Muang Houn and Mouang Bang, on the way we stop to visit the villages of Khmu, Leu, and Hmong located along the road. We reach Luangprabang in the late afternoon, have dinner, and overnight at a hotel in Luangprabang.

Day 12: Luangprabang – Departure.(-/-/-)
Depends on your flight time. You may have leisure time. Take your free time before transferring to the Airport. Say goodbye to your tour guide.
